CPCL’s Cyclothon Adds Energy to the Fuel Awareness Campaign!


 Chennai:

“In the ambitious journey to achieve 5 Trillion- dollar economy, the energy requirements and fuel consumption are likely to increase rapidly. The consumption of fossil fuels also shows a steady growth and therefore, it is imperative that adequate emphasis is laid on switching to cleaner form of energy and subsequently work on measure to enhance energy efficiency” said Shri. Dharmenda Pradhan, Minister Petroleum & Natural gas.

 

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) took active step towards fuel conservation. Saksham Cycle day was organized at Manali, near Chennai on 31.01.2021 as one of the mega events of the one-month long fuel awareness campaign. Shri S.N. Pandey, Managing Director, Shri Rajeev Ailawadi, Director - Finance, Shri Krishnan S, Director - Operations, Shri Shankar H, Director - Technical, Shri Venkateswaralu J.T., Chief Vigilance Officer participated in the event.

 

People from all walks of life participated in the Saksham Cycle Rally at Manali. Necessary social distancing related protocols were organized throughout the rally.



The CPCL grounds were filled with men, women, children wearing caps and T-shirts with the company’s logo printed on them. The 7.7 km long rally started and ended at CPCL polytechnic college. The chief guests along with the top officials of CPCL flagged off the event where more than 500 people participated in batches. 

Cycling helps us not only in conserving fuel, but it also helps us to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The cycle rally was conducted to emphasize on the savings of fuel for the betterment of upcoming generations thereby enhancing sufficient amount of resources be available. Saving fuel not only helps to save resources, but it also helps in controlling pollution. It was really overwhelming to see people step out and support such initiative even during a pandemic crisis.

Initiatives taken by Government of India towards Cleaner fuels:

“We are working towards a "One Nation, One Gas Grid” Network through addition of approximately 17,000 kms of gas pipelines in the eastern and north eastern parts of the country. With the implementation of “City Gas Distribution” networks in all authorized areas, soon, more than 70% of India's population will have access to clean and affordable natural gas. We are setting up 5000 compressed biogas (CBG) plants by 2024 with a production target of 15 MMT and an investment of about 20 billion dollars” said Shri. Tarun Kapoor, Secretary of MoPNG.
