Disney+ Hotstar announces its next web series with director M.Manikandan, starring Vijay Sethupathi 

India's leading streaming platform, Disney+ Hotstar, announced its next Hotstar Specials series featuring acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead,  directed by National Award winner M.Manikandan. Director M.Manikandan is best known for having delivered critically acclaimed superhits such as 'Kaaka Muttai', 'Aandavan Kattalai' and 'Kadaisi Vivasayi'.

Vijay Sethupathi, one of Kollywood’s top stars who is currently making his mark across film industries in the country, will be seen in a Tamil web series for the very first time.

Director M.Manikandan and actor Vijay Sethupathy's superhit combination is set to soar expectations and excitement among fans The new Hotstar Specials web series began with a pooja today in Usilampatti.

Production by 7C’s Entertainment Pvt Ltd (P Arumugakumar).The project will have music by Rajesh Murugesan and cinematography by Shanmugasundaram.

B Ajith Kumar is the editor of the project and Immanuel Jackson is its art director. Sound design for the web series will be handled by Ajayan K Adat and costumes by Kavitha. 

Further details regarding the project are to be revealed in the coming days.

The Department of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation has to date performed kidney transplants for both paediatrics and adults with 22 transplants comprising babies and children and 482 adults. Of the 482 adults, 156 were women recipients and 348 constituted men.To commemorate this milestone, eminent gues Sri Tenkasi S Jawahar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary & Project Director, World Bank Aided Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation Project participated in the celebration with the Kidney transplant donors and recipients. The participants talked about how their lives had returned to normal after having a kidney transplant. "We are proud to state the Department of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation at Gleneagles Global Hospital has successfully completed 500+ Kidney transplants since its first kidney transplant was performed in 2009. It is a remarkable achievement for our hospital and a one-of- a-kind record in the world of kidney transplants," said Dr. Alok Khullar, CEO, GI neagles Global Health City. "This is no small feat to achieve for any hospital in India. Though we are already leading in kidney transplants, we are still lagging behind developed countries. Today, it is or ly the family and relatives of the recipient who donate first. We need more NGOs to come forv ard and help us in this cause,". "Statistically speaking, out of these 504 transplants under the live donor kid ey transplants, 47% was donated by mothers, 19% by the spouse, 12% by the sister, 8% by the brother and 14% were others. Theyoungest and oldest donor was a 20-year-old female and a 65-year-old malerespectively. The recipient in the youngest category was a three-year gir and the oldest recipient was a 68-year-old male," addedDr. Muruganandham "Incidentally, not every successful kidney transplant was easy to perform. Tl e Hospital had many challenging cases that were rare and truly unique too. For instance, there was a pediatric high-risk transplant of a 16-yeargirl who suffered from Syndromic CKD-Ctin + I P. Another was a 17-yearboy who had Refractory HTN -S/P Bilateral Nephrectomy and Low-C pacity Bladder. PATTAAPAKAL BEGINS WITH A POOJA AND TITLE LOOK LAUNCH

‘Pattaapakal’ is an upcoming dark comedy movie directed by Saajir Sadaf with screenplay by PS Arjun. The film is produced by Nandhakumar under the banner Sri Nandanam Films. Shaan Rahman is the music composer of this comedy entertainer while Kannan Patteri will be handling the camera. Jassal Saheer is the editor. This is the second collaboration of Kannan Patteri and Jassal Saheer with Saajir Sadaf. Their previous outing was ‘Kosichayante Parambu’ (2022).

‘Pattaapakal’ is said to be an out and out comedy entertainer. Rela Hospital and Rotary Club of Madras Mount Jointly Organise Walkathon to create awareness on Varicose Veins for Traffic Policemen

Walking, exercising and healthy eating can keep the disease at bay, say experts 

Chennai: 

Hundreds of people, including police personnel, took part in a walkathon organised by Rela Hospital and Rotary Club of Madras Mount to create awareness about Varicose Veins among traffic policemen on Saturday. Mr. S. Sakthivel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, flagged off the event at Besant Nagar Beach

The event titled - Let’s Win Over Varicose Veins – Walk for Well Being Walkathon (WOWW) – started at Besant Nagar Beach at 5.30 a am and the participants holding placards walked the distance with cheer.

Varicose veins are a condition caused by poor functioning valves in the veins. This causes blood to gather in the legs rather than flowing back to the heart. Common symptoms include throbbing pain, swelling of legs or ankles, itching around affected areas and visible bulging or twisted veins on the surface of skin.

Maintaining a healthy weight, walking, exercising regularly and wearing stockings, when necessary, can prevent the onset of the disease. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes to surgical procedures depending on severity.

சாராயம் விற்ற காசில் அரசாங்கம் நடத்துவது கேவலம்- கொந்தளித்த இயக்குநர் பேரரசு

KNR மூவிஸ் சார்பில் KNR ராஜா தயாரித்து, அவரே கதாநாயகனாக நடித்து இயக்கியுள்ள படம் மாவீரன் பிள்ளை. இந்த படத்தில் கதாநாயகியாக நடிப்பதன் மூலம் மறைந்த வீரப்பனின் மகள் விஜயலட்சுமி சினிமாவில் அடி எடுத்து வைத்துள்ளார். முக்கிய வேடத்தில் தெருக்கூத்து கலைஞராக நடிகர் ராதாரவி நடித்துள்ளார்.

இந்த படத்திற்கு மஞ்சுநாத் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்ய, பாடல்களுக்கு ரவிவர்மா இசையமைத்துள்ளார். பின்னணி இசையை பிரேம் அமைத்துள்ளார்.  ‘படத்தொகுப்பை ஜூலியன் மேற்கொள்ள, பாடல்களை ஆலயமணி எழுதியுள்ளார்..  

இந்த படத்தின் இசை வெளியீட்டு விழா சென்னை சாலிகிராமம் பிரசாத் லேபில் நடைபெற்றது. இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் இயக்குனர் பேரரசு, அனைத்து மக்கள் அரசியல் கட்சி தலைவர் ராஜேஸ்வரி பிரியா, நகைச்சுவை நடிகர் கூல் சுரேஷ் இவர்களுடன் வீரப்பனின் மனைவி முத்துலட்சுமியும் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாக கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் தயாரிப்பாளரும் இயக்குனருமான KNR ராஜா பேசும்போது, “எல்லா வீடுகளிலும் ஏதோ ஒரு வகையில் மதுவால் பிரச்சனை இருக்கத்தான் செய்கிறது. மதுவிற்கு எதிராக விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்தும் விதத்தில் மிகுந்த கஷ்டப்பட்டு இந்த படத்தை எடுத்துள்ளேன்” என்று கூறினார்.

இசையமைப்பாளர் ரவிவர்மா பேசும்போது, “இந்த படத்தில் நான்கு பாடல்கள் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன. அதில் குறிப்பாக சாராயம் அபாயம் என்கிற பாடலை பாடலாசிரியர் ஆலயமணி எழுதி அவரே பாடியும் உள்ளார். இந்த படத்திற்கு நான் பாடல்களுக்கு மட்டும் இசையமைத்துள்ளேன். பின்னணி இசையை பிரேம் அமைத்துள்ளார். முதல் படத்தில் கமர்சியலாக சம்பாதிக்க நினைக்காமல் இப்படி ஒரு சமூகத்திற்கு தேவையான ஒரு படத்தை தயாரிப்பாளர் ராஜா எடுத்துள்ளார் என்றால், அவரது சகோதரர் குறைந்த வயதிலேயே மதுவால் மரணம் அடைந்த தாக்கம் தான் அதற்கு காரணம். இது தர்மபுரி மாவட்டத்தில் நடக்கும் கதையாக உருவாகியுள்ளது. பல காட்சிகளில் டாஸ்மாக்கிலேயே நிஜமாக படப்பிடிப்பு நடத்தி உள்ளோம். 

நாயகி விஜயலட்சுமி பேசும்போது, “சின்ன வயதில் இருந்தே நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்கிற விருப்பம் இருந்தது. என்னுடைய தந்தை தனிமனித ஒழுக்கத்துடன் வாழ்ந்து ஒரு முன் உதாரணமாக இருந்தவர். சமூகத்தில் ஒரு பக்கம் குடி, இன்னொரு பக்கம் காதல் என்கிற பெயரில் பெண்கள் சீரழிக்கப்படுவது போன்ற சம்பவங்கள் தொடர்ந்து நடந்து கொண்டே இருக்கின்றன. இவற்றை மையமாக வைத்து திரைப்படம் எடுத்தால் மக்களிடம் விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படும். அதனாலேயே இந்த படத்தில் நடிக்க ஒப்புக கொண்டேன் நிச்சயமாக என் தந்தையின் பெயருக்கு எந்தவித களங்கமும் வராமல் அவரது பெயரை காப்பாற்றுவேன்” என்று கூறினார்.

இயக்குனர் பேரரசு பேசும்போது, “ஹீரோ, ஹீரோயின், இயக்குனர் யார் என பார்த்து படம் பார்க்க முடிவு செய்யாதீர்கள். படம் என்ன கருத்தை சொல்கிறது என்பதை பார்த்து படம் பாருங்கள். நம் ஊரில் முதல்வரின் மகனும் சினிமாவில் நடிக்கலாம்.. வீரப்பன் மகளும் நடிக்கலாம்.. சினிமா யார் என்றாலும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்.. அந்த வகையில் வீரப்பனின் மகன் விஜயலட்சுமியை ஒரு புதுமுகமாக நாம் ஆதரிப்போம். தெருக்கூத்து அழிந்து கொண்டே வருகிறது என்று சொல்கிறார்கள்.. ஆனால் டாஸ்மாக் முன்பாக குடித்துவிட்டு விதவிதமாக தெருக்கூத்து நடனங்களை குடிப்பவர்கள் ஆடிக் கொண்டுதான் இருக்கிறார்கள். விஜய், பிரபுதேவா இவர்களை விட குடிமகன் சூப்பரா ஆடுகிறான்.

பள்ளி, கல்லூரி மாணவிகள் மது அருந்தும் வீடியோக்கள் வெளியாகி அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியது. மதுவிலக்கு என்கிற வாக்குறுதியை கொடுத்துவிட்டு, அதே மதுவை கொடுத்து தான் ஓட்டு போட சொல்கிறார்கள். இந்த படத்தில் ஆலயமணி எழுதிய சாராயம் அபாயம் என்கிற பாடல் ஒரு அபாய மணி. இந்த பாடலை டாஸ்மாக் முன்பாக ஒலிக்க விட்டு மது ஒழிப்பு பிரச்சாரம் கூட செய்யலாம். மதுவிலக்கை ரத்து செய்வதாக கூறினால் ஓட்டுப் போட மாட்டார்கள் என அரசியல்வாதிகள் பயப்படுகிறார்கள். எந்த இடத்திலும் அரசியல்வாதிகள் பேசும்போது போதைப் பொருள்கள் லிஸ்டில் மதுவை சேர்ப்பதில்லை. மதுவை விற்கலாம் என்றதால் இனி வரும் நாட்களில் டாஸ்மாக்கை போல கஞ்சா கடையும் ஆரம்பித்தாலும் ஆச்சரியப்படுவதற்கு இல்லை.

ஆன்லைன் ரம்மி மூலமாக எங்கேயோ எப்போதோ ஒன்றிரண்டு பேர் இறக்கிறார்கள்.. ஆனால் குடியால் தினசரி எத்தனையோ பேர் உடல் பாதிப்பு, விபத்து என உயிர் இழக்கிறார்கள்.. ஆன்லைன் ரம்மியை ஒழிப்பதற்காக சட்டசபையில் குரல் கொடுப்பவர்கள், ஏன் மதுவை ஒழிக்க வேண்டும் என்று குரல் கொடுக்கவில்லை.. சாராயம் விற்கும் காசில் அரசாங்கம் நடத்துவது கேவலம். பெண்களுக்கு ஆயிரம் ரூபாயும் தேவையில்லை.. ஓசி பஸ்ஸும் தேவையில்லை.. நீட் தேர்வை நீங்கள் ஒழிக்கிறீர்களோ இல்லையோ, அதுவரை ஏழை மாணவர்களும் மருத்துவ படிக்க படிக்க வேண்டும் என்றால் ஏன் நீங்களே மாணவர்களுக்கு நீட் பயிற்சி அளிக்கக் கூடாது.. சாராயம் விற்ற காசில் எதுவும் எங்களுக்கு பண்ண வேண்டாம். பாவத்தை எங்கள் தலையில் கட்டாதீர்கள்.. கேளிக்கை வரி என்பது கேலிக்கூத்து வரியாக மாறிவிட்டது. இந்த படம் சமுதாயத்துக்காக எடுக்கப்பட்ட படம்” என்று கூறினார்.

அனைத்து மக்கள் அரசியல் கட்சி தலைவர் ராஜேஸ்வரி பிரியா பேசும்போது, “வீரப்பன் உண்மையான கதாநாயகன்.. வீரப்பன் மகள் நடிக்க வந்திருப்பது பெருமையாக இருக்கிறது. திரைப்படம் என்றாலே பணம் சம்பாதிக்கும் துறை என்று தான் ஆகிவிட்டது. அதில் இந்த படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் இயக்குனர் ராஜா போன்றவர்கள் தான் உள்ளே நுழைந்து சமுதாயத்தை மாற்றும் விதமாக படம் எடுக்க முடியும்.. வட மாவட்டங்களை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் தான் கல்வி அறிவிலும் பின்தங்கி இருக்கிறார்கள், அவர்கள் தான் அதிக அளவிலான மோசமான செயல்களிலும்  ஈடுபடுகிறார்கள்.. அவர்கள் தான் அதிக அளவிலும் மது அருந்துகிறார்கள்.. இதை அந்த வட மாவட்ட களத்தையே பின்னணியாக வைத்து படம் இயக்கி இருப்பது பாராட்ட வேண்டிய ஒன்று.. பள்ளிகளில் போதைப்பொருளுக்கு எதிராக பேசும்போது ஏன் அங்கே மது குறித்து பேசுவதில்லை.. வெளிநாடுகளிலும் மது விற்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் இங்கே மட்டும் அதிக சாவு ஏன் ? ஏனென்றால் இங்கே கொடுப்பதும் மது அல்ல விஷம்..” என்று கூறினார்.

நடிகர் கூல் சுரேஷ் பேசும்போது, “ராமதாஸ், அன்புமணி ராமதாஸ் ஆகியோர் அரசியல் ரீதியாக மதுவுக்கு எதிராக ஒரு பக்கம் தொடர்ந்து குரல் கொடுத்து வருகிறார்கள். அவர்களது வழியில் வந்த இந்த படத்தின் இயக்குனர் ராஜா சினிமா மூலமாக மதுவுக்கு எதிராக குரல் கொடுக்கும் முயற்சியை எடுத்துள்ளார். அதை நாம் பாராட்ட வேண்டும். வீரப்பன் ரியல் ஹீரோ. அவரது மகள் நடிக்க வந்ததை வரவேற்போம். இந்த மேடையில் நான் அதிகமாக பேசியிருக்கிறேன் என்று நினைத்து, என்மீது வழக்கு போட நினைத்தால் எனக்கு பதிலாக இந்த படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் கே என் ஆர் ராஜா மீது வழக்கு போடுங்கள்” என்று நகைச்சுவையாக பேசினார்.

‘கேடி-தி டெவில்’ திரைப்படத்தில், நடிகை  ஷில்பா ஷெட்டி   இணைந்துள்ளார்!

நடிகர் துருவா சர்ஜாவின் நடிப்பில்,  பிரமாண்டமான பான் - இந்திய ஆக்சன் படமாக உருவாகும்   ‘கேடி-தி டெவில்’ படத்தின் அடுத்த அதிரடி அப்டேட்டை  தயாரிப்பாளர்கள்  வெளியிட்டுள்ளனர். பாலிவுட் பவர்ஹவுஸ் ஸ்டார் ஷில்பா ஷெட்டி குந்த்ரா, இந்த பான்-இந்தியா திரைப்படத்தில் சத்யவதி எனும் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் இணைந்துள்ளார். இந்த அறிவிப்பு  ரசிகர்கள் மத்தியில் பெரும்  உற்சாகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

1970களில் பெங்களூரில் நடந்த உண்மைச் சம்பவங்களை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு  அதிரடி ஆக்‌ஷன் என்டர்டெய்னராக இப்படம் உருவாகிறது. இப்படத்தில் துருவா சர்ஜாவுடன், ரவிச்சந்திரன், சஞ்சய் தத் மற்றும் ஷில்பா ஷெட்டி குந்த்ரா ஆகிய முன்னணி நட்சத்திரங்களும் இணைந்துள்ளனர். இந்திய அளவில் பிரபலமான முன்னணி நட்சத்திரங்கள் படத்தில் இணைந்திருப்பது, ரசிகர்களிடையே பெரும் ஆர்வத்தைத் தூண்டியுள்ளது. 

இப்படத்தில் நடிப்பது குறித்து நடிகை ஷில்பா ஷெட்டி குந்த்ரா கூறுகையில்:

“ராஜ்யங்களுக்கு இடையே நடக்கும் ஒரு மாபெரும் போரை பற்றிய கதை தான் கேடி தி டெவில், ஒவ்வொரு ராஜ்யத்திற்கும் ஒரு ‘சத்யவதி’ தேவை.  இந்த 'கேடி' போர்க்களத்தில் நானும் ஒரு அதிசக்தி வாய்ந்த கதாப்பாத்திரத்தில் சத்தியவதியாக நடிப்பது மிகப்பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சி என்றார்.

A ZEE5 Original “Sengalam” Trailer Launch Event!

ZEE5 has been consistently delivering laudable content based on different genres, which has garnered a tremendous response from the audiences. The reputed OTT platform is now ready with its next Original titled ‘Sengalam’, produced by Abinesh Elangovan (Abi & Abi Entertainment PVT LTD), and directed by SR Prabhakaran. This is the first-ever Tamil web series based on a political thriller and is set against the backdrop of Southern Tamil Nadu. It features Kalaiyarasan and Vani Bhojan as the titular characters. The trailer launch of this series was held in Chennai. “Sengalam” is set to premiere on ZEE5 on 24th March

India's Biggest Retinal Conference RETICON Held in Chennai 

Chennai: 

The 13th edition of RETICON, India's biggest annual retinal conference organized by Dr Agarwals Retina Foundation, was held in Chennai today. More than 1,000 Ophthalmologists from India and abroad attended the conference. Thiru. Dayanidhi Maran, Central Chennai, Member of Parliament inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital and Dr Ashvin Agarwal, Executive Director & Chief of Clinical Services, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital. RETICON 2023 brings together vitreoretinal specialists and fellows to acquire an update on the latest techniques and technologies for the management of vitreoretinal disorder, which is constantly evolving. The sessions revolved around the topics of medical retina, surgical retina, and vitreo-retinal surgeries. RETICON offers a unique opportunity for PG students and general ophthalmologists to understand various state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment options in the vitreo-retinal specialty. 

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals, said:

"Retinal diseases are the major cause of preventable blindness. Retinal diseases can be effectively managed if diagnosed on time, but unfortunately, retinal diseases get a low priority in blindness prevention programs compared to diseases like cataracts. Due to a lack of awareness about symptoms, and ignorance about seeking treatments, there has been a significant rise in patients who are suffering from vision loss. People aged above 40 should take simple tests to examine their vision, by closing one eye and checking for blurred vision. In case of impaired colour vision, decreased contrast or colour sensitivity, patients should consult a Retina Specialist. Especially if one is diabetic, it is important to keep their blood sugar levels under control. Regular retinal examination every 6 months is mandatory to detect early changes in retina."

Actor Udhayanidhi Stalin’s choice of movies has owned unparalleled plots with engaging elements. When he approached me, the first script to narrate to me was an emotional love story as he wanted to explore his potential in different genres. Since I was fascinated by his first movie, I requested that he makes a crime mystery thriller with minute-to-minute surprises and twists. When he narrated the story of Kannai Nambathey, I was impressed, and we immediately started shooting the film. However, there were some adverse conditions due to the COVID issues, and then my political involvement hampered the progression of production work. Major portions of this film had to be shot during the night times and mostly on the roadsides, which took some time. Finally, as a team, we are happy to see that the movie has been completed, and is gearing up for worldwide theatrical release on March 17. Film producers get one more avenue to generate revenue!

Leading producers from South Indian film industry took part in the Media Tech Summit hosted by Brand Exchange (www.brandxchange.media) at GRT Grand, Chennai, on Saturday evening. 

A panel discussion on the topic 'Futuristic Media Tech' was held as part of the event during which how transforming technology, revenue development and innovative entrepreneurship are changing the new-age film industry was discussed.

Founded by Sivakumar R, a professional with over two decades of experience with great track record in business planning and revenue identification among other areas, Brand Exchange is a new-age platform that aims to connect producers with leading brands to generate revenue from the costumes used in the movies. 

A significant amount of a film's budget is spent on costumes. It is said that almost close to a maximum of 10 per cent of the overall budget is spent on the dresses of the actors. 

There is no income from the money spent on the costumes and it is only seen as an expense in the film industry. However, Brand Exchange aims to change this scenario with the help of technology. 

The platform aims to create revenue through this initiative. The costumes used by the major star cast will be pitched to the leading brands. Dresses used by actors in a particular movie will be available with these brands from where people can buy them.

The valuation assigned by the brands for these costumes will create an income to the producers. 

Brandxchange founder and CEO Sivakumar R said this initiative will be a big boon to the producers. "Producers are investing a huge amount in costumes while making a film. The major work of Brand Exchange platform is to connect leading dress brands to producers. Brands, producers and costume designers will be benefitted through this initiative. The brand will sponsor the costumes of the actors, thus creating a revenue for the producer. Costumes which were once seen an expense will now become a revenue generating option. This will also make the movies colourful and create a transparent revenue mechanism. The costume designer will have a virtual market since this will act as a platform for their creativity."
