Super Chennai Goes Live: A Citizen-Driven Digital Movement Putting the City on the Global Map
Chennai has become the first city in India to launch a dedicated, citizen-led website, Super Chennai, a move that marks a major leap in urban storytelling, participatory culture, and city branding.Conceptualised as a movement more than a website, Super Chennai brings together community voices, real-time city updates, and cultural narratives into one unified digital space. The initiative is backed by CREDAI Chennai and has been developed with inputs from technologists, civic thinkers, entrepreneurs, artists, and everyday citizens.
The journey began earlier this year, when the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru MK Stalin unveiled the Super Chennai logo at FAIRPRO 2025. The website launched today is the next step in that vision - a digital-first, participatory space that aims to present Chennai not just as a metro, but as a global, future-ready city.
Speaking at the launch, Mr.Ranjeeth D Rathod, Managing Director of Super Chennai said, “This is not just a website or a tech platform. It’s a tribute to our city - its spirit, its struggles, and its extraordinary potential. Super Chennai is where every resident can find themselves and feel proud of belonging here.”
As part of this event, Super Chennai announced a partnership with Pointcast, a Silicon Valley-based tech company, making Chennai the first city in the world to become Pointcast-enabled. This cutting-edge point-and-broadcast platform delivers bite-sized, real-time updates on the mobile for everything one needs to know.
Mr. Aditya Swaminathan, Brand Evangelist, Pointcast said, “Pointcast is our way of giving the city a heartbeat - one that people can feel every day, wherever they are. It’s Chennai speaking to its citizens in real time.”
Super Chennai has also launched its monthly property titled, ‘Icon of the Month’, which recognises the leaders with iconic vision for the society and people. The first recipient of this ‘Icon of the Month’ is Mr. C.K. Kumaravel, Co-Founder of Naturals Salon, for his outstanding contribution to women’s entrepreneurship and inclusive growth.
On receiving the award, Mr. CK Kumaravel said, “Chennai has shaped me, supported me, and inspired me. I’m proud to be part of this initiative that celebrates the city and its changemakers.”
Mr. A. Mohamed Ali, President of CREDAI Chennai added, “Chennai has always been a city of builders - of homes, institutions, and futures. Super Chennai is the digital layer of that same spirit. It reflects what we stand for as a city: pride, progress, and participation.”
To build on this momentum, Super Chennai is launching a national campaign to showcase Chennai as one of India’s most vibrant destinations to live, visit, work, invest, and innovate. Through a mix of digital outreach, media partnerships, and on-ground activations, the campaign will highlight the city’s unique blend of cultural richness, economic opportunity, and future-ready spirit.
With a focus on community-driven content, hyperlocal relevance, and civic pride, Super Chennai is designed to grow with the city. From its beaches and shopping streets to its tech labs, food destinations and cultural festivals, Chennai is a city of contrasts and convergence. Super Chennai now becomes its digital mirror - inclusive, expressive, and proudly local.
